“Compelling characters and a gripping plot laced with dry humour, unlock this thrilling crime debut.”

SJ Watson, best-selling author of Before I go to sleep

I’m Wayne Kelly AKA W.A.Kelly. I write crime stories about good people doing bad things for the right reasons.

If you enjoy tense situations, flawed characters, and gritty stories with heart and dry humour, you’re in the right place.

My books, including Safe Hands and The Call Back, explore what happens when ordinary lives collide with crime. I’m less interested in neat heroes and more interested in pressure, consequence, and the moments where everything starts to unravel.

This is where I share my fiction, updates on new releases, and the occasional look behind the scenes at how the stories come together.

A bit about me

I’ve spent most of my working life telling stories in one form or another. I’ve produced documentaries, written scripts, and directed short films, but fiction is my first love.

Alongside the novels, I host The Write Place Podcast, where I’ve spent the last decade talking to authors about how and why they write.

I live in Leicestershire with my long-suffering wife and Milo The Cat. When I’m not writing, I’m usually on a bike or writing and recording music with The Wry Dogs.
