A bit about me

I’ve spent most of my working life telling stories in one form or another. I’ve produced documentaries, written scripts, and directed short films – you can take a look at some on the VIDEOS page. But fiction is my first love. My first novel, Safe Hands, was published in 2023. It was the first in my Mickey Blake series. Mickey is an aging safe cracker forced out of retirement for one last job. The first book was described by best-selling author of Before I Go To Sleep, SJ Watson as being a ‘… thrilling crime debut.’

The sequel, The Call Back, followed in 2025, with the third book in the series scheduled for release later this year.

Alongside the novels, I host The Write Place Podcast, where I’ve spent the last decade talking to authors about how and why they write. In 2026 I released my first non-fiction book, Real Writers Never Quit, telling the story of my own writing journey alongside inspirational quotes and advice from all those incredible podcast guests. I’m passionate about helping other writers develop their craft and get their own books out in to the world. I’ve written and directed several short films including INKLING, which was an official selection at the International HorrorHound Film Festival in Ohio. I also produced the award-winning feature length documentary, NO FARE: The Sian Green Story.

I live in Leicestershire with my long-suffering wife and Milo The Cat. When I’m not writing, I’m usually on a bike or writing and recording music with The Wry Dogs.
